Patson Daka and Kemar Roofe react as Fashion Sakala joins Rangers
Fashion Sakala has finally been officially unveiled as a Rangers player after he signed a pre-contract in May.
The Zambian international joined the Light Blues from Belgian First Division side Oostende on a four-year deal, but has had to quarantine up till yesterday.
The 24-year-old forward has taken to his personal Instagram account to share his official pictures in a Rangers shirt.
His Gers teammate Kemar Roofe and fellow Zambia international Patson Daka – who recently moved to Leicester City – have both sent him their congratulations.
Sakala ended his time in Belgium with 26 goals in 90 games, with 13 of those coming in 29 appearances last term.
Rangers have strengthened their attack ahead of next season’s title defence and European campaign, and we believe we have a top player on our hands.
The Zambian rejected offers from clubs in England, the French top-flight and La Liga in order to secure a move to Ibrox, and we cannot wait to see him in the Bears jersey on the pitch.
Sakala could make his debut when Rangers host Arsenal in a special friendly match to commemorate the club’s 150 years of existence on Saturday, and he would be keen to prove himself from the get-go.
His friend Daka will be keeping a keen eye on his progress in the Scottish top-flight, and Roofe would hope to establish an understanding with him on the playing pitch.
We play Brighton and Real Madrid next, and the Zambian can use the tough tests to announce himself and force his way into manager Steven Gerrard’s first-team plans heading into the new season.
