Report: Rangers-linked Siriki Dembele transfer listed by Peterborough

Rangers have been handed a major transfer boost as Peterborough forward Siriki Dembele has been transfer listed and turned down a new deal.

According to The Daily Record, he was placed on the transfer list at London Road as talks pertaining to an extension have stalled, but he will still be considered for selection despite ongoing links with Rangers and other clubs.

Steven Gerrard is understood to be a long-term admirer of the forward and could ask the club to sign him given the fact that he’s looking to boost his attacking options for next season.

Speaking about his future, Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson said, as quoted by The Peterborough Telegraph, “We have had no offers for Siriki, not ones that will turn our heads at least.

“Siriki is therefore very much part of my plans. If he trains well he will be in contention to play and he has trained very well so far.

“All the players on the transfer list will be considered for selection while they are still here.”

Time to capitalise

The Record report states that there is an offer on the table for him to extend his deal at London Road. However, he hasn’t signed it yet as he’s considering a move away from the club.

With him in the final 12 months of his deal, Peterborough’s policy dictates that players are placed on the transfer list and will then consider his sale based on the offers received.

As Ferguson said, there haven’t been any noteworthy offers thus far for the player, so we must make a deal and get this one over the line if we’re sure he’s the right kind of player that would help improve our squad.

Another reason why he must make a decision quickly is because Celtic are also keen on the player and we would hate if they beat us to the signature of the 24-year-old.

England’s recently relegated trio of Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham have also shown an interest in the player.
