Unnamed Russian club in potential big money offer for Glen Kamara - report

Rangers ace Glen Kamara is subject to transfer interest from Russia, according to Eurosport.

The report states that the Finland international has a potential big money offer from an unnamed Russian club.

He’s also on the radar of English clubs as the Premier League trio of Everton, Brentford and Watford are all looking to secure his services this summer.

His current contract runs out in the summer of 2023, so he could stay on for another year, but Rangers will not be able to command as a high a fee 12 months later.

Big conundrum

How Rangers should deal with the Kamara situation entirely depends on what sort of future he sees here in Glasgow. If he thinks of us as a stepping stone to move onto greater things, then now is the time to cash in on him.

We’ve seen in the past how hard it is for players to turn down offers from Premier League clubs, so if he decides that the time is right for him to take the step up then we must ensure we’re compensated pretty well.

If we drag it on for another year without him signing a new deal, we’ll probably get half of what we can realistically expect if he part ways with him this summer.

While it will be a bitter pill to swallow for the fans, it’s certainly one that many would’ve seen coming. Kamara is an outstanding player who deserves to compete for the biggest trophies.

Champions League football at Ibrox could see him change his mind, but as things stand, we’re not certain as to what he deems fit for himself.
