Rangers winger Ryan Kent not pursuing transfer to Leeds United

Ryan Kent has offered no words of encouragement to Leeds United in their pursuit of the Rangers winger, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist responded to a question from a Leeds fan on Thursday evening [08/07/21] who asked if the Whites were still keen on signing Kent.

Nixon tweeted on Monday [05/07/21] that the Premier League club still wanted the 24-year-old, but three days later he has written on his personal Twitter profile that there is “no encouragement”.

Nixon was then pressed as to whether that was from Rangers or Kent himself.

“Either”, he replied.

Here for another year?

Just like Alfredo Morelos, it is no surprise to hear Kent’s name constantly linked with a lucrative move away from Ibrox.

Once again Kent was one of our standout performers last season, and his displays on home soil and abroad will have attracted plenty of interest from clubs.

Leeds were widely reported to have been pursuing a move for Kent last year but they ultimately failed in their approach.

However, despite a top-10 finish to their first Premier League campaign since 2003/04, and the permanent signing of winger Jack Harrison from Manchester City, Leeds are reportedly still eyeing the Englishman up.

But, while no formal offers or bids have been lodged, it looks like they have been dealt a blow with the suggestion that neither Kent or Rangers are entertaining approaches.

After three seasons with the Gers, some may have feared that his time at the club had run its course and he would inevitably head back to his homeland and the riches of the Premier League, but perhaps our sensational success in 2020/21 and subsequent Champions League qualification has delayed an Ibrox exit, for the upcoming season at least.

In other Rangers news, this midfielder is set to leave the club for the 2021/22 campaign.
