Jack Grimmer blown away by Rangers ace Nnamdi Ofoborh

Rangers new boy Nnamdi Ofoborh has been backed to succeed in Scotland by his former teammate Jack Grimmer.

The Wycombe Wanders defender spent the second half of last season with Ofoborh as the Nigerian was sent out on loan by Bournemouth.

After his contract with the Cherries expired, he moved to Ibrox and will be looking for some first-team football next season.

Discussing his characteristics as a player, Grimmer told The Scottish Sun, “He has a terrific range of passing as you’d imagine from someone who has come through at Bournemouth.

“He is an incredible engine to get up and down, and he has a decent shot on him as well.

“He is a powerful runner and I think he would be good alongside Jacko [Ryan Jack].

“Of course, he will have big shoes to fill if Kamara or some of the other players leave. But the fact Rangers have offered him such a lengthy contract tells you that Steven Gerrard has every faith in him doing just that.”

Getting us hyped already

There’s no doubt a sense of intrigue whenever a new player walks through the door at a club and we’re feeling the same way about Ofoborh’s arrival.

He might not have enjoyed the best of times at Bournemouth, but he’s clearly a player with a high ceiling and could thrive in the Scottish Premiership which is certainly a different ball game compared to the Championship.

The 21-year-old seems to be a powerhouse in the middle of the park who’s got an immense work ethic and application for the game.

Under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard, he could most certainly be one of the standout performers in the league in the coming years.

One thing we would have to watch out for is his injury record. His last game of professional football was played in March before he decided to withdraw from playing for the Wycombe outfit so as to not aggravate things ahead of the new SPFL season.

However, he does expect to be fit for the new season and we’re hoping that he doesn’t suffer another major injury in the coming months.
