Tottenham Hotspur keen on talks with Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Tottenham Hotspur want talks with Rangers manager Steven Gerrard as their search for Jose Mourinho’s replacement continues, according to Daily Star .
Spurs were hoping to appoint Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter, but have been left shocked to find out they would have to pay £20million to secure the services of the Seagulls boss and his backroom staff [Daily Star ].
As a result, the Premier League giants are now keen on talking to Gerrard, but the Daily Star claim it seems unlikely that he would be leaving Rangers at the moment.
Having won the Premiership title with the Ibrox outfit last term, Gerrard is definitely looking forward to more glory days at Ibrox.
Apart from the title defence on the cards for next season, the Liverpool legend has the chance to guide the Light Blues into the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in a decade.
We do not see Gerrard leaving all that for a club in need of a huge rebuild at the moment.
Spurs are playing in the Europa Conference League next season, and that is not particularly appealing.
Rangers could end next season with three domestic trophies after another impressive European campaign, and Gerrard is not likely to sacrifice all that for a side like Tottenham right now.
We know he will leave Ibrox someday, but that is not this summer.
He has eyes on becoming Liverpool manager going forward, and we are proud to be preparing him for the task ahead.
The Rangers boss is already preparing for next season, and Tottenham would have to look elsewhere for their manager.
