Ally McCoist sends Celtic warning as Ray Parlour predicts Rangers pain for Alan Brazil
Alan Brazil was left bewildered as Ally McCoist and Ray Parlour warned him to expect more Celtic misery and Rangers dominance next season.
Speaking on talkSPORT [18/06/21], ex-Ibrox hero McCoist initiated the discussion by warning Celtic of the threat they will face in the Champions League play-off rounds, after being paired with FC Midtjylland.
He said: “It’s not, by any stretch of the imagination, a walk in the park that Champions League draw. In recent years FC Midtjylland have done alright in the Champions League. I think it’s a tough one, I really do.”
“Talk about negative, dear oh dear,” Brazil hit back, audibly groaning.
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Parlour then chimed in: “Rangers are going to strengthen. Steven Gerrard, manager of the year, you must be worried.”
Position of strength
We’re heading into next season with a real air of dominance around us.
Celtic may have finally found their new manager in Ange Postecoglou, but events still look far from perfect on the green side of Glasgow.
McCoist is right – Celtic could find it tough to progress in the Champions League after being paired with FC Midtjylland. There’s no reason to think the Hoops will be favourites for that tie after last season’s abomination.
Meanwhile, Parlour is predicting transfers that will strengthen our squad, a feat that will be difficult to do given how great we were last season.
But that’s exactly what we need to do in order to make a good fist of it in the Champions League next season.
Celtic fans have every right to be worried as we look to build on last season’s success and lead a title procession once more.
