Stephen Craigan thrilled by Jordan Jones for Northern Ireland v Malta
Stephen Craigan was left thrilled by Rangers winger Jordan Jones in Northern Ireland’s 3-0 victory over Malta on Sunday afternoon.
The attacker smashed home his first goal for his country in the opening minutes as he was gifted the chance to hand his side the lead.
Craigan singled out Jones as one of his best performers in Malta, insisting he was a real threat every time he touched the ball.
Speaking during live coverage of the game on Sky Sports, Craigan was thrilled by the performance of the winger on Sunday afternoon.
“Jordan Jones, I thought he was good all night long,” he said.
“Whenever he gets the ball, he’s a threat. Getting that first international goal will do him the world of good, it was a good night all round.”
After finishing his spell at Sunderland in huge disappointment in the League One play-offs, it appears as though Jones had bounced back quickly.
Low on confidence and no clarity on his future, it would have been easy for the winger to miss this chance, but he kept his head down and smashed it home with ease.
Craigan has been one of the strictest pundits during our success in the Europa League over the past year, and he was thrilled by Jones here.
Although it was only Malta that were the opposition, Jones still had to take the chance to shine, and he did that perfectly.
Steven Gerrard will have been watching, and he may have been impressed enough to give him another chance at Ibrox next season.
