Michael Stewart blasts Celtic in Rangers documentary
Michael Stewart took aim at Celtic for their “disaster” of a season as the BBC aired a special documentary about Rangers on Thursday night.
Steven Gerrard led the Gers to their 55th league title this season as Celtic saw their hopes of winning 10 titles in a row vanish in spectacular fashion.
When the documentary reached the point where it talked about Neil Lennon’s sacking at Celtic Park, Stewart and ex-Scotland Women manager Shelley Kerr discussed how it all unravelled in Parkhead.
“I think inevitably, it shows what a disaster it’s been for Celtic,” said Stewart, as shown on BBC iPlayer.
“You know, such high hopes, a historic season was on the horizon for them has petered away, has come to nothing.”
Kerr added: “They’ve had a lot of success in previous seasons but everything has to come to an end.
“It’s sport. You see it in athletics, you see it in water racing and all over sports.
“You can’t win all the time.”
It shocked us to see Stewart featuring in a documentary that was supposed to be about Rangers.
However, after seeing it was on the BBC and plenty of airtime was given to the meltdown at Celtic Park, you can understand why everyone’s favourite anti-Gers pundit was allowed to be involved.
It’s absolutely delicious to watch back at the season and see how our 55th title triumph unfolded.
It’s amazing to go back and see the match-winning goals by Alfredo Morelos, the unbelievable saves by Allan McGregor and the insane level of skill and technique shown by Jermaine Defoe and Ryan Kent.
It’s also superb to watch Celtic’s failure to win their 10th title in a row with everything falling apart in spectacular fashion over in the East End of Glasgow.
Lennon’s sacking was inevitable and definitely came too late from a Celtic point of view but through our blue-tinted specs, we wish he was still in a job there.
Lennon’s failure was brilliant and seeing Stewart recall it is just what we needed this week.
In other Rangers news, Gerrard has been gushing over this Gers player on Instagram.
