Steven Gerrard raves about Steven Davis as Rangers player posts on Instagram

Steven Gerrard has paid tribute to Steven Davis after the Rangers midfielder took to Instagram to share his achievements for the 2020/21 season.

Davis, 36, has been one of the standout performers at Ibrox this term, playing a huge role in the Gers winning the Premiership title without suffering a single defeat.

However, that’s not all the experienced ace has achieved having also earning his 800th career appearance and becoming the most-capped UK player in history.

Davis shared those achievements on Instagram and that led to a number of his teammates, plus manager Gerrard, replying.

Gerrard replied saying: “What a player.”

Leeds United’s Stuart Dallas also said there’s “plenty left in the tank” and Jordan Jones hailed the “incredible” midfield man.

It’s hard to say for certain who should go down as Rangers’ player of the season but there’s no denying that Davis is in the top two or three contenders.

The former Southampton midfielder made 49 appearances in all competitions this season – which is an achievement in itself for a player who’s 36-years-of-age.

He scored two goals in those games and one of them was a superb overhead kick against Celtic which will no doubt go down in Old Firm history – at least on the blue half of Glasgow.

According to stats by Wyscout, Davis also finished the Premiership season ranking third for passes [2467] and second for passes into the final third [407].

He was an absolute master on the ball for the Gers this season, the driving force behind an almost unstoppable attack that Gerrard has put together.

Davis is a modern-day legend at Ibrox.

We hope that next season can be just as good as this one for the veteran midfielder.
