Peter Crouch: Tottenham should be interested in Rangers boss Gerrard

Peter Crouch says he would be interested in appointing Rangers boss Steven Gerrard if he was in charge of Tottenham.

The BT Sport pundit is a huge fan of Gerrard and defended him from critics who question the standard of the SPFL.

In his Daily Mail Q&A column Crouch explained that Gerrard’s reputation as a manager is growing and suggests his calibre should appeal to Spurs and their billionaire owners [Forbes].

He wrote, “Steven’s stock is rising and the way he has overseen the renaissance of Rangers is outstanding.

“I hear people talking about the strength of the Scottish League and questioning the quality but what I would argue is this: if it was so easy, why aren’t teams going unbeaten every year?

“He is going to be an outstanding manager and if I was running Tottenham, I would absolutely be interested in a man of his calibre.”

Going nowhere

Gerrard is clearly happy at Rangers. He is loved here and has a brilliant project at Ibrox.

He has won a league title but there is so much more to come, with the Champions League on offer next season.

Knowing his competitiveness, Stevie G will also be keen to win the two domestic cups in order to establish Gers as the dominant team in Scotland once and for all.

His focus on signing young players in January also hints that he wants to stay at the club long-term.

Scott Wright has impressed him while Nathan Patterson has also broken through this term.

The likes of Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo could become world class players with us too and we are sure that appeals to Gerrard.

We cannot see him leaving us to join any club in the Premier League but Liverpool, and since there is no chance of that happening soon we are convinced he will be here a little while yet.
