Alex McLeish: Fashion Sakala hands Steven Gerrard 'Incredible' Rangers headache

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish believes the signing of Fashion Sakala will hand Rangers and Steven Gerrard a big headache ahead of next season.

The Oostende speedster has signed a four-year contract ahead of his summer switch to Ibrox, seriously bolstering the final third.

McLeish believes the best man will win in terms of selection, with Sakala joining the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “Best man wins.

“It’s as simple as that. If Sakala shows the goods, then you can’t leave people out that have gone up a level beyond who are already there.

“That is the way that it transforms. If there’s one expression that a lot of managers use, then your team is only as good as your striker.

“Rangers have done that well this season, Roofe has scored some incredible goals, then Itten is maybe less so, but he has still got vital goals.”

Options galore.

There will be serious interest in the likes of Morelos this summer, just as there has been more many years now in Glasgow.

Defoe is another who could potentially leave, with his contract expiring and no new deal having been placed on the table as of yet.

Sakala will add serious skill in the final third and has proved himself immensely in the past year for Oostende.

The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, and will make the Bears so much more dangerous next year; we can’t wait.
