Alex McLeish thrilled by Steven Gerrard after Sir Alex Ferguson praise
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has heralded Rangers boss Steven Gerrard after glowing praise from Sir Alex Ferguson over the past week.
The Manchester United legend praised the Bears boss, but over his press conferences, not just winning the Scottish Premiership this season.
McLeish has been thrilled by the humility of Gerrard, who came to Glasgow from Liverpool with the perfect attitude for success.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “You have to respect the press.
“Sir Alex had ding dongs with them over the years, but there was always a few that he really trusted. It’s frightening.
“Steven has been humble, his humility. He has not come up from Liverpool as billy-bigtime, and he’s handled the press conferences with great dignity.
“He’s never let Rangers down.”
Gerrard is still building his portfolio of silverware, so there is no one better to be gaining advice from than Ferguson.
Not only did he win numerous trophies at Aberdeen and Manchester United, but he also did it consistently and every single season.
We need to start dominating the competition in Scotland after a decade of torment, and Celtic need to feel our pain.
Gerrard is key to this, and despite being linked with many jobs, including Spurs in the Premier League, there is nowhere better to be than Ibrox right now.
