Chris Sutton interrupts Ally McCoist with petty dig at Rangers

Chris Sutton interrupted Ally McCoist to take a petty swipe at Rangers over their failure to win any domestic cups this season.

Steven Gerrard’s men are one match away from completing the Premiership season without a defeat.

They take on Aberdeen on Saturday in their final league fixture of the campaign and a win or draw in that will ensure this Gers squad goes down in Scottish football history.

However, when McCoist discussed how big an achievement that is, Sutton butted in to make a point of the fact it’s not an invincible season across all competitions due to defeats in the BetFred Cup and Scottish Cup.

Speaking on BT Sport 1’s Scottish Football Extra on Friday night, McCoist said: “Rangers, Steven and the players have handled it in a way that frankly, you could only dream about at the start of the season. One game away from league invincibility is absolutely…

Sutton then interrupted McCoist mid-sentence to say: “I’m glad you said ‘league invincibility’.”

McCoist then pretended to reel in a fish on a fishing rod, silencing Sutton and said: “I think I’ve got myself a big one here.”

Host Darrell Currie said: “It’s a big catch early.”

Give it up, Chris

If Celtic had gone on and reached the finals or even the semi-finals – or even the quarter-finals – of the BetFred Cup or Scottish Cup then we could accept a bit of a dig from Sutton on it.

But the fact is, we might have underperformed in the cups but we did a helluva lot better than they did.

It goes without saying how much better Rangers have been than their Old Firm rivals this season and even though the Bhoys have had almost a decade in the sun to enjoy their success and our struggles, they still cannot take it.

Luckily, we have Super Ally McCoist who’ll always silence the likes of Sutton and his bitter Celtic cronies.

You just can’t not love McCoist.

Watching him and listening to him is superb entertainment.

He loves Rangers, he loves football and he comes across as someone who simply loves life.

McCoist comes across so well on these types of shows whereas bitter Sutton just sulks and complains and regularly gets bested by other pundits.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have superbly trolled Celtic with an email sent to fans about Dubai.
