Richard Foster thrilled by Joe Aribo in Rangers win v Livingston

Richard Foster was left thrilled by Rangers playmaker Joe Aribo in the convincing 3-0 victory against Livingston on Wednesday evening.

Steven Gerrard was forced to play the midfielder at left-back, with both Borna Barisic and Calvin Bassey ruled out through injury and suspension.

Aribo was influential and played a massive part in the second goal by taking on almost three men before playing a beautiful pass in behind the defence.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, Foster was running out of superlatives to throw at the Bears after another commanding display.

“He’s brilliant,” he said.

“His close control, his movement, his strength there and then the quality to find the pass, it’s a good run from Itten, cuts the ball back and it’s a composed finish from Hagi.”

Quality.

Aribo was sensational down the left-hand side and put his attacking attitude aside to do a great job for Gerrard when he was needed most.

The Nigerian international still manage to have a couple of shots on goal according to WhoScored and was solid in helping keep the clean sheet.

With Bassey having served the final game of his COVID-19 ban on Wednesday, he should be straight back into the starting XI, handing Aribo back his midfield role.

Gerrard and his squad will finally get their hands on the Scottish Premiership title this weekend, and Aribo will be doing that after another clash in that playmaker role.

The 24-year-old has been a massive part of the success this season, and we’re glad he hasn’t had to end it playing out of position at left-back.
