Rangers interested in Nimes and Algeria winger Zinedine Ferhat

Rangers are among a number of clubs who have checked out Nimes winger Zinedine Ferhat ahead of the summer transfer window, according to FootMercato.

The French news outlet claims Saint-Etienne and Sassuolo are also interested, as well as another “top club” in Ligue 1 that hasn’t been named.

Ferhat is said to be one of the “most decisive players” in France’s top-flight this season despite Nimes being on the verge of relegation to Ligue 2.

New right-wing option?

Steven Gerrard could do with adding to his options out wide in the summer transfer window as he has a bit of a shortage there.

Ianis Hagi has played out on the right a lot this term despite being a central player natural. Kemar Roofe can play there too but he’s had his injury issues while Joe Aribo, like Hagi, is better in the middle.

Ferhat is an out-and-out winger who could be a good addition to the squad at Ibrox.

He’s scored six goals and supplied 10 assists in 32 league appearances for Nimes and will enter the final year of his contract in the summer.

Despite this, transfermarkt value the Algeria international at £7.2million, which is a lot considering Ryan Kent, at £7.5million, is the most expensive signing post-admin signing in Govan.

Ferhat’s scored against Rennes and Monaco this term as well as assisting the winner in Nimes’ shock 2-1 victory at Ligue 1 leaders Lille in March.

On paper, he sounds very good but we’d want to see him be available for lower than £7.2million if he’s in the last year of his contract and if Nimes do get relegated.

With two matches to play, Nimes are 19th in Ligue 1 and three points from safety. Their final two games are against Rennes and Lyon too.
