Charlie Adam blown away by Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton
Charlie Adam was blown away by Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton after his role in St Johnstone’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren on Sunday.
The Bears winger was inspirational off the bench at Hampden Park, setting up the opener and then firing home an unstoppable free-kick to double their advantage.
Adam was one of those awestruck by what he saw from Middleton and labelled his strike as “out of this world” on a massive stage.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on Sunday, Adam was thrilled by two moments of magic from the Bears speedster currently away from Ibrox.
“Two pieces of quality,” he said.
“The free-kick is just out of this world at times, it is just a moment to go and it’s a wonderful finish.”
Jak Alnwick never saw this one coming and couldn’t even move as Middleton hit the ball beautifully into the top corner in such a pressure moment.
If Steven Gerrard needed more proof that the winger was ready to prove himself yet again at Ibrox, it was this semi-final.
St Johnstone needed a hero at Hampden Park, and it was ironic to be one of our own after they knocked us out of the cup in the previous round.
With the likes of Greg Stewart consistently on the bench but not making any appearances in the Scottish Premiership, his spot could be used more effectively.
On this basis, there is only one contender to take that spot next season.
