Alex McLeish shocked by Borna Barisic after 'Beautiful' Rangers incident
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish was left “amazed” by Rangers defender Borna Barisic after his performance against Celtic over the weekend.
The Croatian international assisted Kemar Roofe’s second goal with an inch-perfect cross from his weaker right foot at Ibrox.
McLeish was floored by the beautiful delivery but did admit that his injury could cause Steven Gerrard a big problem against Livingston.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I told you I was amazed.
“Barisic switched the ball on to his right foot, and put that beautiful cross in and I’m saying these guys are giving me something new every single week.
“Some improvisation will be needed from the gaffer and the team to try and work out who the best man could be for that position.”
The cross was absolutely perfect, and it landed on the head of Roofe before flying into the net and sealing all three points.
It was all forgotten about when Barisic limped off the field, and it creates a big problem for the clash on Wednesday evening.
Calvin Bassey still has one more game on his suspension for breaching COVID-19 protocols, and Barisic missing would mean there are no other options.
Scott Wright came onto the pitch to replace him against Celtic on Sunday, and that highlighted the lack of options available.
It will be intriguing to see how we approach this game and cross our fingers that Barisic is available and ready to go after this 10-day break.
