Charlie Nicholas hits out at Alfredo Morelos and calls Rangers chokers

Charlie Nicholas has savaged Rangers and star duo Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in a stinging attack against the Scottish Premiership champions.

Steven Gerrard’s side have hit the buffers recently, exiting the Europa League in March at the hands of Slavia Prague before crashing out of the Scottish Cup to St Johnstone on Sunday.

But they are still 35 games unbeaten in the league, 20 points ahead of Celtic and eyeing the 100-point mark to bring up a season of invincibility.

But ex-Bhoys forward Nicholas has torn into the Gers for failing to add to their Premiership success, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

“Rangers have now choked in both cup competitions,” he said.

“Winning the Premiership title as easily as they did disguised a lot of their faults. Many of the Ibrox players have downed tools since becoming champions.”

He added: “If you look at this campaign, Rangers’ best players have been their defenders or goalkeeper. Ryan Kent hasn’t had a good season. Alfredo Morelos has been poor too.

“Gerrard will need to freshen up the squad this summer. He has a massive job on his hands.”

It’s just more absolute drivel from a Celtic-mad pundit hopping on the Gers bandwagon to try and stay relevant.

They’ve been coming out in their droves since our penalty shoot-out defeat to the Saints on Sunday, but they were awfully quiet before that.

Suddenly because we’ve not won every single game we’ve given up? We’ve still only lost twice in normal time this season, and one of those was in the last minute, while the other we ended the game with nine men.

Let’s not even get properly started on that Morelos claim.

Sure he wasn’t electric at the start of the season but he’s battled back to be a first-team mainstay and show his phenomenal qualities.

For someone that’s had a ‘poor’ season the fact that only three Premiership players have more goals says it all.

Nicholas needs to cower back into punditry obscurity and drop the Rangers remarks that are nonsensical.
