Rangers have entered advanced talks with KV Oostende attacker Fashion Sakala ahead of a summer move, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper have claimed on their website that Steven Gerrard has ramped up his summer plans, with the 24-year-old set to arrive on a free transfer.
It is suggested that the Bears are willing to offer a long-term deal for the attacker, who is set to snub moves to Lille to make the move to Glasgow.
This is a major coup.
It is reported that playing under Gerrard and the possibility of Champions League football are the two main lures for Sakala to make this switch.
Rangers failed with a move in January for the Zambian international, who has since seen contract talks with the Belgian side collapse.
Should these talks progress as quickly as it seems, Sakala will then need to pass a medical and be given a work permit before the move is completed.
Zambian outlet, Medium, have previously called the 24-year-old their national “genius” as he continues to be their main national star.
This is a bold attacking move, especially given our options already in the final third.
Kemar Roofe, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent have been our main three this season, but with Sakala more suited to playing out wide than the former Anderlecht man, this could be a smart move.
Sakala has scored 13 goals and added three assists this season in his 28 appearances, including two against Standard Liege, who pushed us all the way in the Europa League.
This is also a warning to the likes of Jermain Defoe, who may start packing his bags after reading the news of this potential arrival at Ibrox.
Gerrard is making moves, and this could be the start of a brilliant summer of moves to make sure this dominance stays in the blue half of Glasgow.
