Rangers loanee Brandon Barker suffers fresh injury at Oxford United
Rangers loanee Brandon Barker has suffered a fresh injury during his loan spell with English side Oxford United.
It has been confirmed as a suspected knee problem after the winger was forced off after only five minutes in their latest League One clash.
Barker has started to hit the ground running recently and has scored three goals as well as adding four assists in his 17 appearances so far.
Writing on their latest match report after the 4-1 win over Shrewsbury over the weekend, the fresh blow was confirmed by their media team.
“United did it despite being hampered when Brandon Barker was forced off after just five minutes with what looked like a knee problem,” they wrote.
“They overcame that pretty quickly.”
Barker was finally starting to show signs that he could potentially be a good option off the bench next season, but another injury could have seen that disappear.
Karl Robinson described the winger as an “incredible” talent, but we have yet to see even a glimpse of that since he arrived at Ibrox.
Three goals and four assists aren’t good enough, and we would have wanted him to get to double figures, realistically, but with only seven games left, we hope it’s not too serious.
Barker may have impressed people at Oxford, especially his new manager, but he has failed to ever catch the eye of Steven Gerrard too much, the one that really matters.
