Glen Kamara agent releases Twitter statement, reveals UEFA appeal after initial ban
The agent of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, Aamer Anwar has released a statement after UEFA reached their verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
Ondrej Kudela has been handed the smallest penalty that can be imposed, a 10-game ban, with Kamara also receiving a three-game ban.
The Czech defender was found guilty of racially abusing the midfielder, who then was said to have assaulted him in retaliation.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Anwar shared that Kamara had been given an initial five-game ban, but that was appealed.
“Kudela was found guilty by UEFA of racist abuse towards Glen Kamara and banned for 10 games,” he said.
“This is the barest minimum penalty, making a mockery of UEFA’s claims on taking racism seriously-we had appealed a five match ban for Glen Kamara and now reduced to three.”
Ludicrous.
We cannot believe that UEFA had initially received a five-game ban for something where there was no clear evidence.
That is half of what Kudela has received for actually racially abusing Kamara, and that is something that has been proven with tonnes of evidence against him.
Even the three-game ban is dreadful, and should never have happened.
There is a clear disregard for racism, and just how serious it is. Time after time, UEFA need to make an example of someone, but they dodge around it by not handing out serious punishments when they can.
There should be no minimum or maximum penalty that can be given, that has to change, and so does the attitude that these players can get away with racist abuse.
This has to stop, and once again, UEFA has failed someone.
