Frank McAvennie blasts Rangers fan over Celtic-Eddie Howe claim on Twitter
Ex-Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has hit out at a Rangers fan on Twitter after he was called out for talking “pish” about Celtic’s manager hunt.
As shown in a tweet on Radio Clyde’s Twitter account, McAvennie claimed that the Bhoys should back of their reported efforts to hire Eddie Howe amid speculation linking him with Crystal Palace [Football Insider].
That led to one Rangers fan accusing McAvennie of drivelling on about his former club and suggested no one cares about what he has to say about Howe.
However, McAvennie wasn’t having any of it.
“Says a man with 55 on his bio. And you say I talk pish,” said McAvennie via his personal Twitter account on Monday.
It’s all about Rangers
McAvennie couldn’t help himself but have a dig at No 55, could he?
We’re not ones for commenting on news about other clubs but the former striker’s claims about Howe are odd.
If Howe’s as a good a manager as Celtic hope he is then of course he’s going to be wanted by other clubs and of course he’s going to have some discussions to feel out which option is best for him.
Who wouldn’t?
People forgot that those in the sport are still regularly people who are just looking for work.
Howe has spent a long time on the south coast with Bournemouth – he might be able to get a job at Crystal Palace without having to move too far away from his family or something. It’s the kind of thing that people need to consider when they change club – it’s not all as easy as people make it out to be.
Howe’s well within his rights to speak to other clubs and Celtic should take that as a compliment but, as always, they have to get touchy-feely about everything and need to be offended by everything that doesn’t revolve around them.
