Rangers forward Jermain Defoe has endured a rollercoaster week at Ibrox after the 4-0 victory against Cove in the Scottish Cup.
The veteran scored his 30th goal for the club in what was his first action since December under Steven Gerrard and the Light Blues.
Defoe admitted that he would love to stay at the club past this season, despite his current deal expiring at the end of this successful campaign.
The striker reacted to his latest milestone with the club on his personal Instagram account, sharing that he is still feeling as sharp as ever.
Ally McCoist and Billy Gilmour both responded to the post of Defoe, sharing that they were clearly impressed with his display against Cove.
“Looking good,” McCoist wrote, whereas Gilmour simply reacted with some emojis.
Past and Present.
This is definitely a blast from the past, and certainly a sense of what if?
McCoist fully developed himself into a Bears icon, and Gilmour was sold before he could get the chance to establish his presence in the Ibrox set-up.
Defoe came to Glasgow knowing that it would likely be the last club of his career and winning the Scottish Premiership, and hopefully, the cup would be the perfect send-off.
Having said that, he proved against Cove that is certainly fit enough to continue for longer than this season, with his sharpness in front of goal frightening for any team.
McCoist definitely knows what it takes to succeed at Ibrox, and he is clearly still a big fan of Defoe as he looks to prove himself yet again.
