Stephen Craigan shares verdict on Scott Wright during first Rangers start v Cove
Stephen Craigan was left awestruck by Rangers playmaker Scott Wright during the crushing 4-0 victory in the Scottish Cup against Cove.
The winter signing was handed his first start for the club by Steven Gerrard, and delivered an assist for Kemar Roofe in the first-half, as he dominated the minnows in the final third.
Craigan was left lost for words at his “deceptive” speed on and off the ball as he caused constant problems for the League One side.
Speaking on live coverage of the game on Premier Sport, Craigan was awestruck by Wright during his first start for the club.
“What I would say about Scott Wright, he’s got a deceptive change of pace that I never knew he had,” he said.
“I knew he was quick and sharp, but he looks really refreshed and hungry tonight to show what he can do.
“I love his intent.”
Excellent start.
Wright has had a very good start to his Bears career and certainly backed up that impressive cameo in the previous Old Firm here.
Although many may say it was “only Cove”, the League One side put up a brave fight at Ibrox, and our players still had to go out and finish the job.
The former Aberdeen man was at the heart of everything good in the final third, and if it was for better finishing, he could have had a hat-trick of assists.
Wright is loving life at the Gers, and he is only going to get better as he earns more starts; that is an exciting prospect for everyone watching.
