Alex McLeish delighted as Rangers linked with Jonson Clarke-Harris – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish has been delighted to see Rangers linked with in-form Peterborough forward Jonson Clarke-Harris this week.

Football Insider have reported that the Bears are tracking the 26-year-old, and even sent scouts recently to watch him in action.

McLeish believes that the competitiveness of the English lower leagues sets players up perfectly for the Scottish Premiership, comparing Clarke-Harris to Ivan Toney.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “Peterborough have produced a couple of crackers.

“I’ve been watching some of their goalscoring exploits recently, and they’re rattling them in, so well done Darren Ferguson.

“League One and the Championship is so competitive, and you’re not surprised when you see the leaders losing to the teams at the bottom, it’s so difficult to assess.

“You can bet your bottom dollar that Clarke-Harris is at the same level of quality as the likes of Ivan Toney.”

Goal machine.

Clarke-Harris has been phenomenal this season and has already fired home 25 goals in his 37 appearances, three more than his nearest competitor.

Coming up from League One into Scotland shouldn’t be too much of a problem after this cracking season, just look at Joe Aribo.

After dominating with Charlton and winning the play-off final, he came to Glasgow and carried on his scintillating form under Steven Gerrard.

With potential question marks surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos, this could be the perfect replacement being lined up already.
