James Tavernier sends congratulatory message to Steven Davis
James Tavernier sent a message of congratulations to Steven Davis after the Rangers star broke the record for most caps by a UK player.
The Northern Ireland skipper won his 126th cap against Bulgaria on Wednesday and does not look like stopping anytime soon.
Tavernier was quick to wish his teammate well and showed public support for Davis that is available for all Rangers supporters to see.
Unbelievable achievement!! 👏🏽👊🏽 Congratulations @StevenDavis8 https://t.co/fiDg7JG1uK

The tweet read, “Unbelievable achievement, congratulations Steven Gerrard”, and came in direct response to Rangers’ official count celebrating the achievement.
Good mentor
It is brilliant to see the camaraderie that exists amongst the squad on show in the public eye.
Davis is clearly an elder statement amongst the players and is well-respected for his achievements in the game – as he should be.
Breaking the cap record is a remarkable achievement and is a testament not only to his professionalism but his ability.
Tavernier and other Rangers stars should be looking to learn from him day in day out.
If they manage that they may also be able to prolong their career at the highest level for as long as possible.
Tavernier has not had Davis’ success on the international stage due to England’s plethora of options at right-back, but he could serve the Gers for many more years.
Athleticism is a key part of his game but Davis too was once a player who covered a lot of ground between both boxes.
The 36-year-old has adapted his game slightly and Tavernier may need to do the same once he hits his mid-thirties.
However, he already boasts good leadership so could be an important player for us for several more years.
