‘On the plus side’ – Journo fires jibe at Kudela as ace has night to forget after Rangers allegations
Journalist Barry Anderson fired a jibe at Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela as the man accused of racially abusing Rangers’ Glen Kamara had a night to forget.
Kudela travelled to Wales for the Czech Republic’s World Cup qualifier against the home nation to much fanfare after it was initially decided that he wouldn’t travel after the events at Ibrox a few weeks ago.
Not only did the Czechs’ lose as a late Daniel James header secured a 1-0 win but Gareth Bale took a not so subtle swipe at the Slavia man.
Bale absolutely knew what he was doing as he checked behind him before smacking his elbow into Kudela’s face as social media praised the Spurs man for his actions.
The abuse and disdain for Kudela was clear after the match as Scotsman reporter Anderson fired a subtle jibe at the player.
After the game, he tweeted, “Scotland’s Euro 2020 opponents Czech Republic lost 1-0 to Wales in Cardiff tonight.
“On the plus side for the Czechs, Ondřej Kúdela managed to get through the evening without racially abusing anybody.”
Social media has already found Kudela guilty of his racism charge to some degree as tweets calling him a racist and praising the actions of Bale flooded some corners of Twitter last night.
We don’t condone this as we need to wait for UEFA’s investigation as they attempt to find out the truth.
However, something was said to Kamara.
Even if it wasn’t racist, it was abusive in other ways and to see Bale taking one for the team and trying to kick racism out of football in a more practical manner was a joy to watch.
The UK football community is firmly behind Kamara for the most part though those in the Czech Republic are standing firmly behind their man.
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, whether that be digging an accused racist with a cheeky elbow or having a go at them on social media.
