Roofe and social media blamed for Rangers racism allegations by Czech media

As the fallout from Rangers v Slavia Prague continues to dominate headlines in this country it is also still the talk of the Czech Republic.

While the majority of UK football fans are demanding that something is done about racism in football, Slavia fans continue to make ridiculous claims in a bid to shift the blame away from Ondrej Kudela.

Kudela is being investigated by Scottish police after Glen Kamara accused the Slavia man of racially abusing him.

Rangers

This is all anyone who supports Rangers is concerned about.

The fact that we are out of the Europa League simply doesn’t matter, some things are bigger than football.

We only wish Slavia fans and the Czech media saw this situation in the same way as us.

An opinion piece has appeared in Czech outlet IDNES which sums up the awful views of Slavia fans and proves why it is incredibly unlikely that we will ever see an admission from the club.

Rangers

In this piece, author Jan Palicka jumps to a staunch defence of Kudela after the midfielder flew to Wales on Monday to meet up with international teammates.

He uses the media, Rangers players, an unproven alleged assault and Kemar Roofe’s red card as reasons why the matter should not be investigated further.

There is a massive sense of someone who is grasping at straws throughout this piece and it is a fascinating insight into what is going through the heads of some Slavia fans.

In the piece, Palicka says, “There are a hundred perspectives on how to look at the whole case.”

This simply isn’t true, there is one perspective.

Was Kudela racist or not?

That is literally all that matters here.

He also goes on to blame social media for, something…

“The goulash around Kúdela only proves what problematic power the media and especially social networks hold. There was chaos, which obscured the essence of the whole problem.”

This is only roughly translated but what does social media have to do with the actions of one of Slavia’s players?

Yes, there were comments about Kudela on social media and rightly so as he was accused of racially abusing someone.

Finally, this piece comes to its coup de grace as once again Rangers players and more specifically Roofe are blamed.

rangers

He says, “Lawyers do not solve the criminal attack on Kolář’s goalkeeper or other cruel fouls, which Rangers performed against the Slavists.”

Criminal attack? It was a bad foul but come on.

Also, people keep banging on about these supposed fouls that Rangers committed on Slavia without actually pointing out when they took place.

In fact, FootballCritic has Slavia down as making 18 tackles on the night compared to Rangers’ 10.

These excuses need to stop, let the investigation play out and come to its conclusion before leaping to a possible racists’ defence at the drop of a hat.

In other Rangers news, we can expect an update in the racism case against Slavia Prague after an update on Monday.
