‘You’re wrong’ – Ben Wild Fan Mailbag: Comments from this Slavia fan prove why Rangers won’t get justice
Every week we’ll be asking Rangers fans on our Facebook account for questions that will be answered by Ibrox News editor Ben Wild. You can join in by following the Rangers Insider Facebook account and watching out for weekly mailbag posts.
The fall-out from last week’s Europa League second-leg clash between Rangers and Slavia Prague continues to rage on with both sides offering contrasting viewpoints.
Rangers and Glen Kamara have alleged that the midfielder was racially abused by Ondrej Kudela though the Czech side have rejected this assertion in a statement and focused on ‘brutal’ fouls by the Light Blues, as well as claiming Kamara attacked Kudela in the tunnel afterwards.
There appears to be a feeling on the Slavia side that Rangers are sore losers and are using certain events to brush over a poor performance that saw them swept aside at Ibrox last week.
Take a look at this message Ibrox News received below…
Ibrox News editor Ben Wild has responded to these claims and offered his assessment of how Slavia have conducted themselves since the shocking scenes in Glasgow.
Firstly, we need to be careful here. Secondly, I would like to point out that I mostly disagree with everything that’s been said here. Rangers are only talking about the racism incident because it is by far the most important thing to happen during the match. The challenge from Roofe was awful though not intentional and it in no way justifies an alleged racist attack on an opposition player.
Also, Rangers were far from brutal with their challenges and the referee on the night had an absolute shocker. There was one event where Kamara was booked after winning the ball but running into a player, it was a shocking decision and far from a yellow card and again, it is not a justification for racially abusing that player later in the game.
The key thing here is that we all saw what happened. Kudela went up to Kamara and said something. We don’t know what that was but he said something. Kamara and Zungu believe it was racist and that’s all we saw on the pitch.
The other ‘attack’ this comment may be referring to is the alleged incident when Kamara assaulted Kudela after the game. We haven’t seen any proof that a fight occurred, we just have Slavia’s ill-timed statement. Whereas we saw Kamara get abused.
Rangers aren’t shifting the blame. You’re wrong. They are trying to get justice for a player who was racially abused. Comments like this sum up the worrying mindset of so many fans who have defended Kudela without hearing the full story. We don’t have the full story either but we stand by our player who was abused. Whether it was racial, we have no proof. But he was abused.
It is comments like this that explain why racism cases are never followed through by UEFA. This fan talks about Rangers shifting the blame then tries to shift the blame from Slavia. Racists need to be held accountable.
