Frank McAvennie blown away by irreplaceable Rangers star Alfredo Morelos
Frank McAvennie has been blown away by Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos and his improvement under Steven Gerrard.
The Colombian has played a huge role in sealing Scottish Premiership title number 55 this season, even scoring his first Old Firm goal last week.
McAvennie played 85 games for Celtic, scoring 37 goals during his two spells at the club, but that hasn’t stopped him from praising Morelos.
Speaking to Football Fan Cast, McAvennie was thrilled by the progression of Morelos during his time at Ibrox since arriving from Finland.
“I don’t know if you can replace him, he’s such a talent,” he said.
“Since Defoe has gone there, he’s become a better player, he’s been a good inspiration for him. His temperament has got better, he’s still doing the odd thing but I don’t mind that.
“He’s a talent. Every year there have been people saying he’s moving to this one. He’s been all around the world, but he’s still here.”
Superstar.
Morelos arrived in Glasgow as majorly unknown from Finland, but he would leave with legendary status at Ibrox after his incredible stint.
The Colombian international was targeted by many last summer and has admitted that he would jump at the chance to move to England if it was offered to him.
To say that Jermain Defoe transformed Morelos is harsh, and El Bufalo is his own striker who doesn’t need inspiration.
Building his own legacy and using that to better his foundation back home in South American is all the motivation he needs, and it is clearly working.
