‘Cold war’ – Report lifts lid on rift between Rangers’ Hagi and Slavia’s Stanciu
The atmosphere between Rangers’ Ianis Hagi and Slavia Prague’s Nicolae Stanciu is more like a ‘cold war’, according to Czech outlet Sport.cz.
Both players are currently on international duty with Romania though just over a week ago both players were on opposite sides of a racism allegation.
Glen Kamara is alleging that Stanciu’s teammate Ondrej Kudela racially abused him during the late stages of last week’s Europa League last 16 tie.
There must have been a fairly awkward meeting between the two players when they met up for international duty and Sport.cz have lifted the lid on the atmosphere between the two.
They claim that the pair have ‘managed the situation without any problems’ after a ‘meeting’ on international duty, which is to be expected from two professionals.
The players were spotted training with each other just a few days ago so it seems the pair have set aside any animosity that may have been lingering after last week’s vile scenes.
Hagi was the hero for Romania this week as his late goal handed his country a 3-2 win over North Macedonia in World Cup qualifying.
There is still plenty of fallout to come from last week’s match and some Gers fans aren’t happy that Hagi has been spotted fraternising with the enemy.
At the end of the day though, the players have to put any potential problems aside as they look to help their side qualify for next year’s World Cup.
We will see what UEFA decide over the coming weeks and days as they investigate allegations from both sides.
We can only hope the truth comes out and the right players are punished.
In other Rangers news, a forgotten “warrior” likened to Ronaldo could have a big role to play for Gers next season.
