Alex McLeish: Invincibles season is fresh target for Rangers after title 55 – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish has insisted that Rangers will have the fresh target of finishing the Scottish Premiership unbeaten after the season split.

Steven Gerrard has secured title number 55 at Ibrox already and has five games to play before lifting the trophy after the Aberdeen clash.

McLeish believes not losing against Celtic in the recent Old Firm would have been the next target, with the invincibles campaign the next on the list.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “That will now be a target.

“We are still very proud and we go onto the next games with this phenomenal run of being unbeaten, so now this is a fresh target for Rangers.

“The first target was winning the league, the next target was going to Celtic Park and not losing that game was another significant step. Also, now they have another target in their sights.”

Always in mind.

It may not have been as believable before the season split, but everyone surrounding the Gers will have had this goal in mind.

Finishing the entire season would the perfect way to finish the perfect campaign, as Gerrard’s men have simply blown the competition away with ease.

Celtic and everyone in their group have been vocal that this was the year they were going to seal 10-in-a-row, and the famous Gers have simply stepped up and rubbed salt into the wound at every possible opportunity.

McLeish must be a realist, but this has been a massive target with each passing game.
