Alex McLeish blown away by Glen Kamara nearing new Rangers contract – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish has admitted it would be “superb” business for Rangers to tie down the future of key midfielder Glen Kamara.

The Finnish international has revealed that discussions have been opened over a new deal at Ibrox, despite there being two more years on his current contract.

McLeish has been thrilled by the development of Kamara and believes that his signature has been one of the biggest bargains in recent history.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “Definitely.

“What a find he has been, and virtually for nothing. Coming from Dundee, he’s been a brilliant footballer for club and country, and it’s great business if Rangers can get that guy tied down.

“He’s been superb, he’s been one of the key players when Steven Gerrard looks to pick a nucleus of players, he is in that nucleus.”

Incredible.

Kamara has been nothing short of brilliant this season, and that has continued in recent weeks despite the hell that he has been put through.

After being allegedly racially abused by Ondrej Kudela against Slavia Praha, it would have been understandable if he stayed away from the spotlight in the Old Firm, but he was in the middle of the action shining.

The 25-year-old has been phenomenal and has been everpresent alongside Steven Davis in this side, and he could be about to follow his partner in signing a new deal.
