Alex McLeish has labelled Rangers midfielder Steven Davis as “incredible” after he signed a new contract at Ibrox in the past week.
The Northern Ireland international put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal which will see him remain at Auchenhowie until the end of next season.
McLeish believes that Davis has proved himself since arriving for his second stint with the Bears, and his efficiency on the pitch is a real weapon for Steven Gerrard.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “There were so many doubts when Steven came, was he finished?
“Was he just catching up having not played at the top level for a while? It was the latter, Davis has come back and you see how efficient he is on the field, he just knows where to go.
“He doesn’t get himself exposed. He’s been incredible.”
Davis has been phenomenal this season.
The Bears legend knows what it takes to bring silverware back to Ibrox, and his experience will have been critical in bringing that back during this invincibles run.
Gerrard has built this exciting free-flowing side around Davis, who has marshalled those around him perfectly as they destroy teams while staying defensively sound.
This is surely just the first contract that will get announced before the start of next season, with another hero; Allan McGregor running down his current deal this year.
