Rangers Women's expert previews players to watch as season set to resume
We’re delighted to welcome Rhiannon from the Rhiannon’s Rangers Rundown podcast, as our exclusive Rangers Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Auchenhowie.
Rangers Women will get their season back underway with an away game at Hearts on April 4 after a frustrating few months.
The Gers last played on December 12 before the league was put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The 5-0 win over Glasgow City left Malky Thomson’s team top of the league and anxious to get back to work to match the success of the Rangers men’s team.
Ibrox News’ Rangers Women’s football expert Rhiannon has given us the rundown on the players to look out for when the season returns on April 4.
Shes said, “The key players for me would be Lizzie Arnot, who has been stellar since coming in from Man Utd.
“She’s been scoring for fun, getting there against Motherwell and one against Glasgow City.
“Zoe Ness was fantastic in our first game against Hearts, she bagged a hat-trick while also getting a good goal against City.
“Our backline has been solid, Nicola Docherty is always solid but keep a lookout for Rachel McLauchlan and Chantelle Swaby who are recent signings.
“Kirsty Howat signed from Glasgow City and has run riot since, including bagging a hat trick on her debut against Motherwell.
“Midfield wise I’m always pleased to see Kirsten Reilly on the pitch, feel she’s underrated, she’s cool, she knows exactly what she’s doing.
“Megan Bell and Brogan Hay are important in moving the team forwards. Bringing in players with this talent has just made a strong team stronger.”
Ranges share an almost identical record with Glasgow City after seven games with both sides having six wins and one loss to their names.
The Gers sit top of the league on goal difference and are two points clear of Celtic who occupy third place ahead of the season’s resumption.
