Ibrox View: Nathan Patterson could miss rest of Rangers season, SFA hearing on Thursday

Rangers defender Nathan Patterson has felt every single emotion possible in the past couple of months at Ibrox.

The young right-back started the year by breaching COVID-19 protocols, something that has yet to be resolved despite his recent charge.

After that, injury to James Tavernier has led to him playing a starring role in both the Europa League and the Scottish Premiership.

That could all be about to crash down, though.

BBC Scotland have shared that the SFA hearing is set to take place tomorrow on Thursday after the charge was handed out at the beginning of March.

Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were also charged at the start of this current season, and that led to both of them being handed seven-match bans.

It is unlikely to be the exact same charge, and given that this is the second time that Rangers squad members have breached the rules, it could be a bigger hammer blow dropped this time.

Season over?

With five league games left to complete after the Scottish Premiership split, it is a near-certainty that Patterson will miss those games alongside Bongani Zungu and Calvin Bassey.

That leaves the Scottish Cup has the only possible chance of the young defender featuring again this season, but that may not be until the fifth round.

Cove Rangers travel to Ibrox after the international break, so that could be the first game Patterson misses before league duty starts again.

Steven Gerrard will be preparing for the worst, and we cross our fingers that Tavernier will be fit to take his spot back after this two-week break.
