Alex McLeish thrilled after Alfredo Morelos broke Old Firm duck for Rangers v Celtc

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish was left thrilled by Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos after he broke his Old Firm duck against Celtic on Sunday.

The Colombian international found the back of the net to equalise for the Bears, expertly poaching at the back stick after Leon Balogun’s flicked header.

McLeish admitted that he had predicted to a close friend beforehand that it would end as a draw at Parkhead with Morelos scoring the goal.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I text one of my mates and I said that Alfie will score.

“Alfredo Morelos has deserved that with his recent performances, he’s in a great run of form and it was no surprise that he scored that goal.

“I think it will lift a weight from his shoulders, he’ll probably have been very, very aware of that from social media and he’s now come up trumps and he has on the back of his form deserved it.”

What a moment this was.

Nearly three days later and everyone will still be buzzing for Morelos as he finally got to rub it in the faces of our fierce rivals in a season where the power dynamic has well and truly shifted in Glasgow.

Scott Brown couldn’t even bring himself to name the Bufalo after the game, and it is sweet moments like this that people will remember for a long, long time.

Morelos is closing in on 100 goals in all competitions for the Bears, and he could do it this season with five to play in the league and the Scottish Cup.
