Steven Gerrard not a priority for Tottenham if they sack Jose Mourinho

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is low on Tottenham’s shortlist of managers they would want to hire if Jose Mourinho is sacked, according to GiveMeSport.

Last week, 90min reported that Gerrard features on Spurs’ list of potential replacements for Mourinho, should they decide to part ways with the Portuguese boss.

However, it is understood the English Premier League club have a number of other candidates who they will turn to first before considering Gerrard, who has led Rangers to their 55th league title this season in Scotland.

Rangers

Liverpool or no one

There’s one club who Gerrard loves more than Rangers and that’s Liverpool.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool’s owners have earmarked Stevie G as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp should the German want to quit Anfield in any time soon.

Liverpool’s season has been a complete failure in terms of their bid to defend their Premier League title and Klopp has already been linked with being the next Germany boss – something which he’s had to reject the notion of.

Gerrard won’t be Rangers manager forever and the fact we’re writing about the manager being wanted by other clubs – especially top Premier League clubs – just shows how well he’s done at Ibrox.

Brendan Rodgers brought a lot of success to Celtic and he’s ended up at Leicester.

With Gerrard, we’re talking about Liverpool and Spurs.

You will have people talk down Gerrard’s achievements and the fact it’s taken him over two seasons to win silverware at Ibrox. But the mess he inherited suggests he’s done very well to win the league in that timeframe and end what would have been a 10th successive title for the other half of the Old Firm.

In other Rangers news, the Gers could mutually agree to let this star player move on in the summer.
