Alex McLeish: Rangers still on track for ‘huge’ achievement this season – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish has insisted that Rangers will still be targeting the “huge” achievement of finishing the season as invincibles in the Scottish Premiership.

The season split after the latest instalment of the Old Firm on Sunday afternoon, and there will be six games left to play after the international break.

McLeish believes with title number 55 in the bag, the Bears will be playing with a certain swagger for the remaining six outings

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “There are little targets.

“That is a little target, but it’s not the most important target. Being unbeaten does guarantee that you will win the league, so that is not a small achievement.

“It’s a huge achievement, but at the same time, Rangers have got the league in the bag and can go and play with the confidence of champions.”

Outside of the Scottish Cup, Steven Gerrard will be spending most of his time masterminding a way to an unbeaten season.

Why can’t the Bears do it?

Looking at their final six fixtures, the majority of them are at Ibrox; with their toughest games against the likes of Celtic also at home.

The international break has also come at the perfect time and will give Gerrard the chance to welcome back some familiar faces such as Ryan Jack and James Tavernier.

Invincibles, here we come.
