Trpisovsky snaps back at Kamara over incident after Rangers v Slavia
Slavia Prague boss Jindrich Trpisovsky has stoked the war of words with Rangers over last week’s Europa League clash after hitting out at Glen Kamara.
Thursday’s second-leg tie was a hotly contested affair that spilled over into obscenity after Kamara alleged Ondrej Kudela racially abused him during the match.
Kamara and his teammates were rightly furious but the Slavia response has been weak and they have moved heaven and earth to distance themselves from these allegations.
Now Trpisovsky has tried to turn the tables on the Finland international and Rangers.
As reported on the Daily Record website Trpisovsky said: “What happened in Glasgow was the worst experience of my career. It’s incomprehensible to me what happened there.
“I’ll tell you what happened. About 50 minutes after the match, we were asked by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to meet with UEFA.
“When we came to the tunnel for a meeting, not a word was said, Kamara threw his fists at Kudela and then ran away. I was two metres away.
“I thought the meeting would be about the injury to our goalkeeper, but attacking a player 50 minutes after the match…? It was the worst thing I have ever seen in football.”
No shame
This is just another disgraceful attempt to distort the rhetoric over Thursday night.
Instead of challenging the most important incident head-on Trpisovsky has hid around the reaction to it.
Kamara’s reaction in the tunnel, if true, is completely justified.
No one wants to incite violence or physical confrontation but why should Kamara just accept the incident and move on? He, and the rest of the club, are bound to feel aggrieved and angered by the situation.
Kudela and Slavia’s fate now rests in UEFA’s hands. Past incidents show this is not a good thing or something that will inspire any confidence over justice being served.
But no one will forget or forgive the Czech club for how they have handled the incident.
Trpisovsky said Kamara confronting Kudela was the ‘worst thing’ he has ever seen in football.
He ought to look closer to home before brandishing utterly mindless detritus.
