Rangers Super Fans discuss impressive Scott Wright cameo in 1-1 draw v Celtic

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Rangers Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Ibrox.

Scott Wright has been starved of regular Rangers minutes since arriving from Aberdeen in February but he could be set to kick on after his Celtic cameo.

The 23-year-old initially agreed to join the Light Blues in the summer on a pre-contract deal but that move was brought forward on deadline-day as Steven Gerrard sought immediate reinforcements for a domestic and European charge.

Those competitions are essentially over for Gers with the Premiership title already confirmed and the club knocked out of the Europa League by Slavia Prague on Thursday.

But there is still another Old Firm fixture and four more league games to play before the season’s conclusion as well the Scottish Cup so there will be more chances for Wright to impress and stake a claim for a starting spot next season.

He has yet to start a game for Rangers and was only introduced from the bench against Sunday on Celtic for 14 minutes but he impressed with his direct running and turn of foot.

We asked some of our esteemed panel of Super Fans what they thought of his contributions v Celtic and a couple backed him to play a huge role in our club’s future.

Here’s what they said…

We think Wright is primed to get a substantial number of minutes before the campaign draws to a conclusion.

With Cove Rangers next up on the agenda in the Scottish Cup he is almost guaranteed to be thrown in for his first start and he will be expected to weave his magic against lower-league opposition.

How he reacts to that will ultimately determine how much game time he receives for the remainder of the season.

An impressive showing against them will surely tempt Gerrard into giving him an extended run in the team and a possible start in the next Old Firm.
