Sky Sports report significant Kamara update for Old Firm clash v Celtic
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is set to hold face-to-face talks with Glen Kamara to determine whether the midfielder feels ready to take on Celtic, per Sky Sports.
The midfielder has faced a horrible 48 hours as he has had to defend himself after Slavia Prague accused him of lying and committing assault against Ondřej Kúdela.
Some fans of the Czech club also directed more racist abuse at Kamara on Friday.
Gerrard came out to defend his player straight after the match and will now sit down with him ahead of the Old Firm.
Sky Sports reported, “Steven Gerrard will have a face-to-face discussion with Glen Kamara before deciding if the Rangers midfielder is in the right frame of mind to play after Thursday’s Slavia Prague racism controversy.”
Show of character
Kamara is a brilliant professional and we would not be surprised if he does take to the pitch at Celtic Park.
However, we would also understand if he feels that he is not in the right frame of mind to play football right now.
He has faced a turbulent couple of days and all eyes will be on him in what will be a tense and difficult affair.
It is important that Kamara wants to play, therefore, so Gerrard is right to meet with the midfielder before deciding whether to include him.
Celtic will be looking to disrupt our game and take advantage of the fact we played in mid-week.
Kamara’s energy and ability on the ball – averaging 91% pass accuracy per WhoScored – could prove valuable for us.
We hope he starts and shows the true side of Kamara that we all know well.
If he does it will be a brilliant display of character and he should give us a big helping hand in achieving our aim of making it three consecutive wins at Celtic Park.
