Kenny Miller and Charlie Adam react to Steven Davis signing one-year deal
Steven Davis has put pen to paper on a new one year deal that will extend his Rangers stay until 2022.
It is some much-needed positive news and Charlie Adam and Kenny Miller were quick to praise their former teammate.
Both sent messages of congratulation as Adam tweeted, ‘Great news well done mate’.
Miller’s response on Instagram will be well received by Bears as he called on Davis to help get Allan McGregor tied down for another year.
McGregor’s contract is still up in the summer and fans will be keen for him to continue due to his fine form this season.
Great business
It has been a tough few days for Rangers after our Europa League exit was marred by allegations of racism, so this news is most welcome.
Davis has been brilliant this season and his influence cannot be underestimated.
He holds the midfield together and is key to our passing style, and he translates Gerrard’s message from the dressing room onto the pitch.
The midfielder has achieved 89% pass accuracy this term and a WhoScored average rating of seven.
He provides much more than that, however, and uses his experience to manage games and controls the tempo of each match we play.
Davis is a leader in the squad and keeping him another year will be very useful for our young players.
In particular, Nnamdi Ofoborh is a young midfielder who will arrive at Ibrox in the summer and having Davis there to tutor him will be very useful.
Davis sets the standard of professionalism for all his teammates to reach so like Adam and Miller, we are delighted that he will remain at Auchenhowie for another year.
In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart has made an admission about the Old Firm that Bears will love.
