Joe Aribo calls for equality in response to Glen Kamara statement

Glen Kamara has issued a statement from his solicitor about the events that took place against Slavia Prague and Joe Aribo showed support for his Rangers teammate.

Kamara refuted the claims of Ondřej Kúdela denying he said anything racist and called on UEFA to end their token gestures on racism and to take a zero-tolerance approach in a lengthy statement.

The midfielder also called on social media platforms like Instagram to take action after Kemar Roofe was racially abused on the site after Thursday’s match.

Aribo replied to Kamara stating “Equality!” and the whole squad have been behind Kamara and Roofe.

Conor Goldson was very vocal with his feelings after the incident too and gave a very real,  heartfelt reaction in his post-match press conference.

Rangers family

The events against Slavia Prague were devastating.

There is no room for discrimination in football or wider society and we fully understand the reactions of Kamara and Goldson on the pitch.

The manner in which they have responded away from the pitch has been exemplary and we could not be more proud.

Steven Gerrard and the club have led the way in backing Kamara to the hilt and hopefully that leads to a positive outcome – charging Kúdela and Slavia Prague.

It is vital the squad sticks together and Aribo backing his teammate on social media sends a great message.

They have been brilliant this season and if they can lead the way forward in getting the likes of UEFA and Instagram to take action then they will have made a real difference.

It is now up to UEFA to do what is right and honour their pledge to rid football of racism.
