Slavia release statement after Rangers controversy while accusing Kamara of assault
Slavia Prague have released a cutting statement after Ondrej Kudela was accused of racist abuse during last night’s match against Rangers.
Glen Kamara reacted in an angry manner when the Slavia man said something to the Gers midfielder and Steven Gerrard said after the game that Kamara heard racist abuse.
In response, Slavia released their own statement on their website when they denied the allegations and accused Kamara of assaulting Kudela after the match.
The statement reads, “Slavia rejects the imaginary accusation of racism after retaliation in the round of 16. The team is now safe at the hotel after the incident under the supervision of the Scottish police.
“Slavia resolutely rejects the disgusting accusation of one of her captains, Ondřej Kudely, of racist behaviour.
“After the match, the team was not allowed into the cabins and Ondřej Kúdela was cowardly beaten with fists in the face by player Kamara without warning in the presence of coach Steven Gerrard.
“The UEFA representatives, who were personally present at the whole incident, were also shocked.”
These are just some selected parts of a lengthy statement that blows open this story as one side is clearly lying about the events that took place on Thursday.
We, like Gerrard, will stand by our player and we hope that UEFA conducts a swift but decisive investigation to find out exactly what was said.
We’ve never seen Kamara react as he did when Kudela said something to him and he is not a violent player.
This makes it very hard for us to believe that the midfielder sought out the Slavia man to punch him ‘in the face’ after the game.
Of course if that is true then Kamara deserves a lengthy ban but again, he wouldn’t react like that unless something disgraceful had been said.
We need answers and whoever is in the wrong needs to be punished.
Both clubs feel as though they are in the right and the other is lying, let’s see what happens over the next few days.
