Jim White delivers Rangers verdict after Europa League exit to Slavia Prague
Jim White has defended Glen Kamara after the Rangers midfielder was accused of assaulting Slavia Prague’s Ondřej Kúdela after the match.
Kudela has been accused of making a racist remark towards Kamara, which sparked a reaction from the 25-year-old.
White has called for an investigation to take place to ascertain what exactly was said, while he also admitted Slavia Prague were the better team at Ibrox.
Speaking on his talkSPORT show on Friday morning, White said, “It’s damage limitation for them because they’re claiming Kamara punched Kudela in the tunnel after the match.
“Steven Gerrard’s just given you, roughly, a take on the character of Glen Kamara, who I have met, and he wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
“At the end of the day we need to see if indeed racial abuse has taken place here, and it’s an if – it’s alleged – then we need to see decisive action.”
Stand by Kamara
White’s reaction came in direct response to Steven Gerrard’s statement defending Kamara.
He described the strong relationship he has built with his midfielder and Kamara’s reaction was clearly out of character on Thursday.
Conor Goldson said as much in his post-match interview, suggesting Kamara has barely shown a hint of anger since arriving at Auchenhowie.
It must have been prompted by something out of the ordinary.
After all, Kamara has no need to lie and his reaction was clearly one of pure emotion that he did not and should not contain.
There must be decisive action from UEFA and the Czechs must be punished properly if they are found guilty.
An in-depth investigation must take place and all the players involved must be spoken to, particularly Kudela’s teammate Simon Deli, who was in earshot of the pair.
It is a shame this event has tarnished our run in Europe as we should be praising Kamara for his efforts in getting us this far.
In other Rangers news, Stuart McCall noticed Gerrard taking significant action after the final whistle blew against Slavia Prague.
