Rangers trio walk disciplinary tightrope ahead of clash v Slavia Prague

Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe are “all walking a disciplinary tightrope” ahead of Rangers’ clash against Slavia Prague on Thursday, according to Andy Newport.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, the PA journalist reported that the three Gers players are “in danger of missing the first leg of a potential quarter-final tie” if they receive another booking against Slavia at Ibrox.

Barisic, Kamara and Roofe have all been booked twice in the Europa League so far this season and all are likely to be involved in the second leg of the last-16 clash with Slavia Prague.

Barisic irreplaceable

Rangers don’t really have much strength in depth at left-back so we’ll need to hope Barisic doesn’t get booked against Slavia Prague.

Calvin Bassey is Steven Gerrard’s second-choice left-back but it’s quite clear the 21-year-old isn’t thought of that highly just yet due to the fact he’s played just 13 times in all competitions this season and only earned five starts.

Barisic has been ever-present at left-back and his ability to cross the ball into the box and take penalty kicks has been crucial while James Tavernier has been out injured.

It would be a major blow to lose him for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals if the Light Blues progress to that stage of the competition.

It would also be a setback if Kamara and Roofe were to get suspended too by earning their third booking in UEFA football versus Czech champions Slavia.

However, both of those players are a bit easier to replace as Gerrard has plenty of central midfield options and Roofe can be replaced on the right by Ianis Hagi or Joe Aribo and up front by Alfredo Morelos or Cedric Itten.
