Rangers talent Jamie Barjonas trains with Ayr United, loan deal expected – Journalist

Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas has started training with Ayr United this week, according to Jordan Campbell.

The Athletic journalist has reported on his personal Twitter account that a loan deal is expected until the end of this current season.

Barjonas’ contract expires after this campaign, and this could be the first hint that he is expected to leave Ibrox in the coming months.

Barjonas is expected to make the switch to the Scottish Championship side in the coming days, with playing time hard to come by.

After a disappointing season, the midfielder could make his debut against Raith Rovers this Saturday, who are third in the league.

Barjonas hasn’t featured for the Light Blues since a friendly against Coventry City last year, and that was in July.

The 22-year-old played eight minutes that game, and it was a clear sign that he wasn’t in the plans of Steven Gerrard then or now.

Second time lucky.

Barjonas was set to seal a move to Orange County in the past transfer window, with a move to America that many believed was a dream move.

That was only going to be a one-year deal, but that eventually collapsed, with Campbell claiming that he was set to stay at Ibrox until the end of this season.

Ayr appears to have taken advantage of that, pouncing when it was clear that Barjonas didn’t have much of a future in Glasgow moving forward.

It hasn’t been the best of stints we’ve ever seen at Ibrox, and it looks to be slowly coming to an end during this campaign.
