Rangers submit building warrant to refurb Bar 72 at Ibrox
Rangers have submitted a building warrant to Glasgow City Council in order to refurbish Bar 72 at Ibrox.
The Gers have sought legal permission to upgrade the East and West bars, modernising them, adding in a new private dining area, disabled toilets and a baby changing area and increasing the overall space of the bars by removing the current suspended ceiling.
Twitter user Michael Seafarer shared the plans on his personal account while they’re also accessible via the Glasgow City Council website.
Rangers’ official website says the club “is delighted to announce exciting upgrades to its hospitality lounges to be completed ahead of the clubs 150th Anniversary season in 2021/22”.
It is understood the renovations were meant to take place last summer but were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Onwards and upwards
Isn’t it great to see Rangers making clear moves to show the club’s recent dark days are well and truly in the past.
Not only has manager Steven Gerrard delivered the glory days back to Ibrox with the Gers winning the Premiership title this season, but there also plans for the stadium to become one that is up to date with the present times of football.
While not many Gers fans will ever make use of the hospitality areas at Ibrox, they’re a way the club can make money and you can imagine that as soon as fans are allowed back to the football, there’ll be a lot of cash made.
It doesn’t seem that long ago when Ibrox was almost literally falling apart as it had been left in a state of disrepair amid the club’s financial struggles at the start of the last decade.
There are a lot of plans for improvements at Ibrox now with a new Edmiston House also set to be built.
It’s been a long time since we went to Govan to watch our team play. It could be very different by the time we’re allowed back.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist laughed in Chris Sutton’s face after his bitter rant about this Ibrox ace.
